Derewil — Privacy Policy

Derewil (“we”, “us”) operates the Derewil ride-hailing mobile application for Kuwait. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. By using the app you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: name, email address, and phone number you provide at sign-up. Drivers also provide vehicle, document, and bank details required to operate.
• Precise location: while you are using the app, we collect GPS location to set pickup/drop-off points, match you with nearby drivers, and — for drivers on an active trip — share live location with the rider so they can track the ride.
• Trip information: pickup and destination addresses, route, distance, fare, vehicle type, and trip status.
• Chosen payment method: the payment option you select (e.g. K-Net, card, Apple Pay, Google Pay). We do not currently process or store card numbers in the app.
• Device & usage data: basic technical information needed to run and secure the service.

2. How we use your information

• Provide the core service: request, match, navigate, and complete trips.
• Calculate distance and fares.
• Show drivers turn-by-turn directions and show riders the driver’s live position.
• Support safety features (e.g. the in-app SOS).
• Manage your account and communicate with you about your trips.

3. Location data

We use location only while the app is in use. Riders’ pickup and drop-off locations are used to create and price a trip. A driver’s live location is shared with the matched rider only during an active trip, and stops when the trip ends.

4. Sharing with third parties

• Service providers: we use Google Firebase (authentication, database) and Google Maps / Directions (maps, geocoding, routing) to operate the app.
• Between rider and driver: limited trip details (first name, vehicle, live location during the trip) are shared so the ride can happen.
• Legal & safety: we may disclose information to authorities where required by law or to protect users’ safety.
• We do not sell your personal data.

5. Data retention

We keep account and trip records for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion (see section 7).

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures (including Google’s secure infrastructure) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may delete your account. Contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Children

Derewil is not directed to children under 17 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy and will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
